Groundbreaking Organization Behind White Dress Movement and Federal Fibroid Legislation Hosts Dual NYC Events

NEW YORK, NY – July 26, 2025 – The White Dress Project (TWDP), the pioneering force that launched the global "we can wear white" movement and authored the firstever federal legislation designating July as Fibroid Awareness Month, celebrates its historic 10-year anniversary with two transformative events in New York City today.

The EmPOWERed Patient Summit and Night in White Gala unite under the theme "The Power of Us: A Journey Together," bringing together the global fibroid community that has rallied around TWDP's revolutionary advocacy.

"For too long, women with fibroids have suffered in silence, told their pain was normal," said Tanika Gray Valbrun, founder of The White Dress Project. "We've spent a decade

proving that when we stand together—in our white dresses, in the halls of Congress, in communities worldwide—we can rewrite the narrative around women's health."

Today's Schedule

The morning session kicks off with TWDP's EmPOWERed Patient Summit, delivering cutting-edge education and advocacy training, connecting attendees with leading medical experts while equipping women with tools to navigate their healthcare journey and champion systemic change.

In the evening, guests will enjoy the annual Night in White Gala, which honors the resilience of women impacted by fibroids while raising critical funds for TWDP's research, education, and advocacy initiatives that continue breaking barriers in women's health. The evening will also celebrate advocates and leaders advancing fibroid awareness with the annual Blossom Awards, named after the founder's mother who experienced her own fibroid journey.

"We're not just hosting events. We've created a community through our programs—a community of warriors that understand their power as patients and advocates," said Jonelle Henry, TWDP's Director of Programs and Chief Curator, Night in White. "We want every person who walks through our doors to recognize they are not alone, they have a powerful story to tell, and they have the tools to rewrite not just their own health story, but the entire narrative around women's healthcare."

The events draw patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and advocates nationwide, reinforcing the community power that has driven TWDP's unprecedented policy victories and cultural shifts.
