Welcome Public Affairs Council Staff!

Together We Can End the Silent Suffering of Uterine Fibroids

Thank you for supporting The White Dress Project during Fibroid Awareness Month. Every donation helps expand education, strengthen advocacy, advance research, and provide direct financial assistance through the White Dress Cares Patient Fund. Together, we are creating a future where every woman has access to the care, resources, and support she deserves.

Why This Matters

Uterine fibroids affect millions of women, with Black women experiencing the highest rates and often the most severe symptoms. Too many women delay diagnosis or treatment because of financial barriers, limited access to specialized care, or a lack of awareness. The White Dress Project is committed to ending the silent suffering associated with fibroids by expanding education, advocacy, research, and access to care.

About The White Dress Project

Founded by fibroid survivor Tanika Gray Valbrun, The White Dress Project empowers women to become informed advocates for their health through four pillars: Education, Research, Advocacy, and Community Empowerment. By connecting women with trusted resources, supportive communities, and opportunities to influence healthcare policy, the organization is helping transform the fibroid journey for women nationwide.

Our Impact

For more than a decade, The White Dress Project has helped change the national conversation around uterine fibroids through education, advocacy, and patient leadership.

Our impact includes:

  • Helping establish July as Fibroid Awareness Month, creating an annual opportunity for education and advocacy across the country.

  • Leading the We CAN Wear White movement, transforming the white dress into an international symbol of hope, healing, resilience, and awareness.

  • Advocating for legislation that expands uterine fibroid research, strengthens public education, improves data collection, and increases access to quality care.

  • Bringing patient voices to Capitol Hill to help shape policies that improve healthcare outcomes, particularly for Black women who are disproportionately affected by fibroids.

Together, these efforts demonstrate how education and advocacy can create meaningful, lasting change for women nationwide.

Our Signature Programs

The Empowerment Experience

The Empowerment Experience is our annual conference and summit dedicated to education, advocacy, and wellness for the fibroid community. Each year, fibroid warriors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and supporters from across the country—and around the world—come together to learn, connect, and inspire one another. The experience culminates with A Night in White, our signature fundraising gala celebrating resilience, community, and our shared commitment to ending the silent suffering associated with uterine fibroids.

Dialogue with the Doctors

Our flagship educational series connects patients directly with leading physicians across the country in a safe, judgment-free space. This program breaks down the walls of silence by creating opportunities for our community to share their stories, ask questions about any aspect of their fibroid journey, and receive expert guidance from compassionate healthcare providers. Perfect for chapters looking to provide direct access to medical expertise while fostering open, honest conversations about fibroids and women's health.

State of the Womb

An essential program addressing the broader landscape of uterine health advocacy, policy, and systemic change. State of the Womb examines where we are nationally in terms of fibroid research, healthcare access, and legislative progress—while charting where we need to go. This program is ideal for chapters focused on creating a social action program, policy advocacy, providing members with the tools and knowledge to become effective advocates for women's health at local, state, and federal levels.

Legacy Tea

An intimate, empowering gathering that honors the wisdom and experiences of women across generations. Legacy Tea creates a sacred space for women to share their journeys, pass down knowledge, and build intergenerational connections around women's health. This elegant event combines education with storytelling, healing with celebration, making it perfect for chapters who want to create meaningful, safe  and supportive experiences that honor both the struggles and triumphs of managing fibroids. It's about preserving our stories and ensuring the next generation has the knowledge we wish we'd had.

White Dress Cares Patient Fund

Awareness alone is not enough if women cannot afford the treatment they need.

The White Dress Cares Patient Fund provides financial assistance for medically necessary fibroid care, helping remove financial barriers that often delay diagnosis and treatment.

Support from the Patient Fund may help cover:

  • Diagnostic imaging and testing

  • Physician appointments

  • Surgical procedures

  • Recovery expenses

  • Follow-up care

By providing timely financial assistance, the Patient Fund helps women receive treatment before their condition worsens, giving them greater opportunity for improved health and quality of life.

Every gift directly supports women on their journey toward healing.

Why Your Support Matters

When you give to The White Dress Project, you are doing more than making a donation, you are helping women move from uncertainty to empowerment.

Your generosity helps us:

  • Expand educational programs that connect women with trusted medical experts and reliable health information.

  • Advocate for policies and research that improve healthcare access and advance health equity.

  • Build supportive communities where women find encouragement, connection, and resources.

  • Provide direct financial assistance that helps women receive medically necessary fibroid care.

Together, we are ensuring that no woman has to face her fibroid journey alone.
